May 5L American Oak Barrel (Medium Char) arrived promptly.
Prepped and conditioned according to the instructions with no weeping or other issues.
It now contains 5L of Jack Daniels fortified port and I’m eagerly looking forward to enjoying it as it ages.
The barrel is well made and comes with a stand to sit on. The delivery was prompt and I look forward to filling it up with my favourite spirit.

Have had it for a bit less than a week. Currently using some 38% ABV unflavoured unclorinated to wet the wood. Hasnt leaked much which i hope is a good sign. Received some good hints on preparation and preparing fortifieds. Tonight is the end of the 4 day preparation cycle. So tonight we clear the solution that is in it and prepare the port. Cant wait to wait for a few months and taste test. Im excited.

After watching many YouTube videos (especially the American ones), most barrels seem to come with hammered-in squeeze bungs and wooden taps. This barrel is a step above. It uses a screw-in bung and a metal tap, which is far superior in both practicality and durability.
Another big plus: even after seasoning the barrel with warm water, it did not leak at all. Zero leaks from day one, which says a lot about the build quality.
Overall, very impressed with the design and workmanship. Based on this experience, I’ll definitely be purchasing another one.
Was everything I hoped it would be. Looks amazing and beautiful quality. 5L barrel is a good size. Showed 2 ladies at work. 1 is now going to get one for her dads 50th, the other for her husbands 40th. I can't wait to give it to my hubby. I just know he is going to love it. I have had a great experience purchasing my 50L barrel from Adelaide wine barrel. They have been great to communicate with and transactions was smooth. They also give some awesome tips on how to get the best out of the barrel including some tips on additives like adding Jacks to my port in which has made a massive difference. The barrel and content safely arrived even tho the box was a bit damaged. The barrel was well sealed well with cling wrap to seal any air from shrinking the timber. There was clear indication on hydrating the barrel to seal up leaks and wax provided for the troublesome leaks. Thankfully my barrel only took about 5 hours to stop dripping and about 24 hours for the barrel to completely seal to the point where the outside of the barrel is completely dry. I am absolutely stoked with that. I have loaded my barrel with port and after 1 week can notice a difference already, can’t wait to taste it after 6 months to a years time. If I was to pick on anything, i mean nit picking, it would be the stand or cradle for the barrel. It appears to be a soft wood pine or something like that that doesn’t match the colour of the barrel. It would be nice if it was the same timber or similar looking timber as the barrel. Anyway I want to give a big thank you to Adelaide wine barrel for such a great product overall. I have always wanted one of these barrels and as I am now home distilling it was a good time to try to produce my own whiskey from one. The order was delivered promptly by Adelaide barrels in time for Christmas. The stand was poorly cut and couldn't be assembled properly, but upon contacting the company it was quickly replaced with another. The barrel is great and instructions clear. I have now filled it and just need to be patient for the ageing process and an end result which will hopefully be delicious.
