Barrel Ready Gin Spirit 2L (ready to be aged in oak)
Description
Picture this… your own oak-aged gin, pulling notes of vanilla, spice and soft caramel in weeks, not years. That’s exactly what this Barrel Ready Gin was created for.
Unlike standard gin, this spirit is distilled specifically to be aged. The botanicals are dialled back, the structure is firmer, and the base spirit is cleaner—so when it meets your oak barrel, the wood does the talking. The result? A smoother, richer, more sophisticated gin that tastes like it came from a boutique distillery… because, frankly, it did—yours.
How long should Barrel Ready Gin be aged in an oak barrel?
Because this gin was distilled specifically for barrel ageing, it works fast. Much faster than whisky or rum.
General guideline:
1.5L barrel: 7–14 days
3L barrel: 10–21 days
5L barrel: 2–4 weeks
10L barrel: 3–6 weeks
15–25L barrel: 4–8 weeks
Smaller barrels = more oak contact = quicker results.
How to get it perfect (the pro way)
-
Start tasting after 7–10 days
-
Taste weekly
-
Once it hits the flavour you love, decant immediately to stop over-oaking
You’re looking for:
-
Softer mouthfeel
-
Light vanilla, spice, and gentle oak sweetness
-
A richer, more rounded gin without losing balance
Important
Gin doesn’t need long ageing. Push it too far and oak can overpower the botanicals. Short, controlled ageing is where the magic lives.
Think of this as finishing, not storing.
When done right, you’ll have a one-of-a-kind oak-finished gin that no bottle on a shelf can touch — and you’ll know it was worth the wait the very first pour. 🥃
