Underground NV Tawny Port 5L

I bought 10L of Tawny Port to go in an American Oak Barrel.
This is such a good buy and I highly encourage anyone to buy it.

The item arrived with the box of alcohol base but the packing left the port container laying on its side it leaked the packing tape did not show that it must be upright just that it was fragile. As the alcohol base box was smaller than the port container the natural position was on the side with the larger item on the bottom and the smaller in the middle of the 5l container.

I tried the pork before putting in the barrel and it already tasted good so it’s gonna be even better after a couple of months in the barrel. I also did the recommended adding 2% of Jack Daniels.

Bought a beautiful virgin oak barrel from Adelaide Wine Barrels for a wedding anniversary. Currently have the barrel swelling with water (no leaks) and very excited to get the tawny in, enjoy that intensely and then flavour the new-make whisky in a month or two. We bought this NV tawny to flavour the oak and enjoy - sampled it the night it was delivered and we are very happy. The tawny is rich, fruity, warming and not sickly sweet. Keen to see how the flavour deepens with the oak.
